Our Story

Navigating Your Financial Journey Across Borders

Montreal Business District
2012

Where It Started

Look, I'm not gonna feed you some corporate origin story about how we "envisioned" this or that. Truth is, I started Krythveil Odyssey after spending way too many late nights at a Big Four firm, watching clients get cookie-cutter advice for complex cross-border situations. That just didn't sit right with me.

Montreal's unique position - straddling French and English Canada, close to the US border - made it the perfect spot to build something different. A firm that actually gets what it means to do business across multiple countries, tax systems, and cultures.

Growing Beyond Borders

By 2016, we'd built a solid reputation helping Canadian companies expand into the States and Europe. But here's what really got us going - the expat community. Turns out there's a ton of folks moving between countries who've got no clue how to handle their taxes properly. Can't really blame 'em - international tax law is a mess.

We brought on specialists who'd actually lived abroad themselves. Makes a huge difference when you're advising someone on US-Canada dual taxation and you've been through it personally, y'know?

Digital Transformation
2020

The Digital Shift

Yeah, 2020 happened to everyone. But honestly? It pushed us in a direction we'd been heading anyway. Cloud accounting wasn't just some trendy thing anymore - it became essential. Especially when you're dealing with clients in different time zones who need real-time access to their financials.

We invested heavily in secure cloud infrastructure and automation tools. Not to replace the human touch - that's still crucial - but to free up our time so we can focus on strategy instead of data entry.

Where We're At Now

Today, we're a team of 17 professionals who've collectively worked in over 30 countries. We handle everything from straightforward expat tax returns to complex M&A deals involving multiple jurisdictions. Our clients range from solo entrepreneurs testing international waters to mid-sized companies with operations across three continents.

What hasn't changed? We still treat every client situation as unique. Because it is. There's no "one size fits all" when you're dealing with international tax and business structuring.

"International tax isn't about finding loopholes or cutting corners. It's about understanding how different systems interact and building structures that work long-term. We're not here to sell you aggressive strategies that'll come back to bite you in five years. We're here to help you sleep well at night, knowing your cross-border operations are compliant, efficient, and sustainable."
